Many older adults value the freedom of living independently. At the same time, family members may appreciate a simple way to know that an ordinary day is proceeding as expected.
AleneApp is being developed to support that need. The service is intended to make a brief daily status update easy for the older adult and useful for the people they choose to involve. It is not designed to replace personal contact. Its purpose is to support it.

Who the service is for
The person checking in
An adult who lives independently and would like a simple way to confirm that everything is okay or request contact from someone they trust.
Trusted contacts
Relatives, friends or other trusted adults invited by the person checking in to receive relevant status information and notifications.
How AleneApp is intended to work
Invitation and consent
The person using AleneApp selects the people they want to involve. An invitation is sent, and each trusted contact chooses whether to join.
A routine that fits everyday life
The user and their trusted circle agree on one or more suitable check-in times.
A clear status update
At check-in, the user can confirm that everything is okay or indicate that they would like a trusted contact to get in touch.
Relevant notifications
Trusted contacts can receive an update when contact is requested or when an expected check-in has not been completed.
Human follow-up
The trusted contacts decide how to respond based on their own knowledge of the person and the circumstances.
