TERMS OF SERVICE
Terms of Service
Terms governing the AleneApp website and, when released, the AleneApp mobile service.
Effective date: 21 August 2026 · Version: 1.0
Please read these terms carefully. AleneApp is a communication and reassurance tool. It is not an emergency alarm, professional monitoring service, healthcare service or medical device, and it must not be used as the only safeguard for a person's wellbeing.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and Aleneapp ApS, CVR 46118847, Strandtoften 50, 8250 Egå, Denmark ("AleneApp", "we", "us" or "our"). They apply to the public website and, when available, the AleneApp mobile application and related services (together, the "Service").
By using the website, creating an account or accepting these terms in the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Product status
The mobile service is currently in development. Some descriptions concern planned functionality and may change before release. Beta or test versions may be incomplete, changed or withdrawn. The terms displayed when you create an account or join a test will govern that version of the Service.
3. The Service
AleneApp is designed to support simple check-ins and communication between:
-
a Member, meaning an adult who completes check-ins or asks to be contacted; and
-
one or more Trusted Contacts, meaning adults invited by the Member to receive selected status information and notifications.
Features may include scheduled check-ins, reminders, status updates, trusted-circle administration and notifications when contact is requested or an expected check-in is not completed.
4. Eligibility and authority
-
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into an agreement.
-
You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
-
If you set up or manage the Service for another adult, you must have their informed permission or another lawful authority to do so.
-
You may invite another person only if you have a reasonable basis to provide their contact details and believe the invitation is welcome.
5. Accounts and security
You are responsible for activity through your account and for keeping your device, credentials and access methods secure.
Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
We may require identity or account verification before making sensitive changes.
6. Critical safety limitations
AleneApp is not an emergency service.
-
We do not continuously monitor users or guarantee that a person is safe.
-
We do not provide professional alarm monitoring, dispatch carers, contact emergency services or provide medical advice.
-
A reminder or notification may be delayed, suppressed or fail because of device settings, loss of power, network conditions, operating-system restrictions, incorrect contact information, maintenance, technical failure or other circumstances.
-
Trusted Contacts are responsible for deciding whether and how to follow up. AleneApp does not assess the seriousness of a situation.
-
The Service must not be the only method used to protect a person who may need urgent assistance.
In an emergency, call 112 in Denmark or the appropriate local emergency number.
7. User responsibilities
You agree to:
-
use the Service only for lawful, personal and agreed purposes;
-
respect the independence, dignity and privacy of Members and Trusted Contacts;
-
agree within the trusted circle on what a missed check-in means and how follow-up should occur;
-
keep notification permissions, device settings, internet access and contact information suitable for the features you rely on;
-
not make false, misleading or harmful status reports; and
-
maintain other appropriate methods of contact and emergency planning.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
-
use the Service to harass, coerce, unlawfully monitor or control another person;
-
invite or disclose information about someone without an appropriate basis;
-
access another person's account or data without permission;
-
interfere with security, availability or operation of the Service;
-
upload malicious code or attempt to reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
-
use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent or commercial-resale purposes; or
-
misrepresent that AleneApp provides emergency, medical or professional care services.
We may investigate suspected misuse and suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service or third parties.
9. Mobile devices, networks and third-party services
You need a compatible device, supported operating system, internet connection and relevant permissions.
Mobile-network charges may apply. App distribution, operating-system services, push notifications, authentication and purchases may be provided by Apple or other third parties under their own terms.
We do not control third-party networks or platforms and cannot guarantee their continued availability or compatibility.
10. Subscriptions, payment and cancellation
AleneApp is intended to be offered as a subscription-based service.
The applicable price, billing period, trial conditions, included features, renewal terms and cancellation method will be shown clearly before you purchase.
If you purchase through Apple's App Store, Apple processes the payment and its purchase, cancellation and refund rules apply in addition to mandatory consumer law.
App Store subscriptions are generally managed through your Apple account settings. Deleting the AleneApp app or account does not by itself cancel an App Store subscription.
Cancellation normally stops future renewal; access may continue until the end of the paid period, as stated at purchase.
Any trial that converts to a paid subscription will state the later price and conversion terms before enrollment.
The minimum viable website does not itself accept orders or payments.
11. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be limited, including mandatory consumer rights.
Information about any statutory withdrawal right, and any request for immediate supply of digital content or services that affects that right, will be provided during the purchase process where applicable.
12. Licence and intellectual property
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose while you comply with these terms.
AleneApp, its software, design, text, graphics, trademarks and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service except with our written permission or where applicable law expressly permits it.
13. User content and feedback
You retain rights in information you submit.
You grant us the limited permission necessary to host, process, transmit and display it for the purpose of providing and securing the Service.
You must have the right to submit that information.
If you voluntarily provide feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without an obligation to compensate you, while respecting applicable confidentiality and data-protection rules.
14. Availability, maintenance and changes
We aim to provide a reliable Service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
We may perform maintenance, address security issues, update compatibility, add or remove features, or suspend part of the Service.
Where a change materially affects a paid consumer service, we will provide the notice and remedies required by applicable law.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion through the available account-deletion flow.
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, create a security or safety risk, use the Service unlawfully or fail to pay an amount due, subject to reasonable notice where appropriate.
Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination — including intellectual property, accrued payment obligations, legal claims and applicable limitations — will remain effective.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data.
You should review it before using the Service.
17. Service standard and disclaimers
We will provide the Service with the level of care required by applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is otherwise provided on an "as available" basis.
Information shown by the Service is based on user input, device signals and technical delivery; it is not an independent verification of a person's condition or location.
We do not promise that the Service will meet every user's needs, work with every device, prevent harm or detect every situation requiring attention.
18. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury to the extent it cannot be excluded.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for loss caused by:
-
use of the Service contrary to these terms or its stated safety limitations;
-
a user's or Trusted Contact's failure to act, or decision about how to act;
-
incorrect, incomplete or outdated information provided by a user;
-
device, power, internet, telecom, operating-system or third-party-platform failure outside our reasonable control; or
-
events that we could not reasonably prevent.
For consumers, our liability remains subject to mandatory law in the country where the consumer is habitually resident.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect product development, security, legal requirements or business changes.
The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
We will give appropriate advance notice of material changes affecting an active paid service where required.
20. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Danish law, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections under the law of the country where the consumer habitually resides.
Disputes may be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law.
Please contact [email protected] first so that we can try to resolve a concern promptly.
21. General provisions
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
We may transfer this agreement as part of a merger, reorganisation or sale of the Service, provided this does not reduce mandatory consumer rights.
You may not transfer your account or agreement without our permission.
